We are thrilled with our little Tidbit! She is a happy and active little puppy who loves every person and dog she meets. She is settling in very well and learning all her commands quite quickly. Thank you SPR team for all the hard work you do.

Sue B.

In less than 3 weeks, Poppy has already made so much progress. When Poppy first came to us, she was not only scared of going outside but had never been on a leash nor trained. In a matter of days, Poppy learned to trust the outdoors, walk on a leash, and has been adding new commands to her repertoire everyday. Each morning Poppy plays with dogs in the field across our apartment, goes on 1.5-2 mile runs with me everyday, and has explored almost all of our neighborhood on her daily walks. She also recently learned she loves snow, which is very fun! Matt and I are so in love with her and are forever grateful she joined our family. The adoption process with Sweet Paws was great and we feel so fortunate we were able to work with the organization and our coordinator, Hilary!

Best,

Roz, Matt, and Poppy

He is about one year old and delighted us by showing up both house trained and trained to heel when walking! He loves to meet other dogs and people and is as cute as a button. None of this would have happened without Susan, our placement counselor. She listened carefully to what we wanted and made it happen. We are enormously grateful for her conscientious and dedicated efforts. We could not be more pleased with or grateful to the entire Sweet Paws team!

Elin and Ned

Hello, Meggie Sweet here. I thought I’d write a little something about how I arrived here on Story Street. My first human mom couldn’t take care of me so she called Sweet Paws Rescue to see if there was a place for me with them. My new human Mom got a message asking if she had room for me as a foster. That is how I came to Story Street and met my new mom; she failed as a foster so now I am here with her forever!

I love being here. I have a new dog brother who is 15 and he is really nice to me. He shares mom’s bed with me. I know she loves me. She gives me cookies and lets me drive in her car. I am so lucky to be here, so warm and happy!! I think she is lucky to have me too, because I keep her feet warm!!

Princess Meggie

Alfie

<figure class="

We weren't looking for a second dog when we started fostering, especially a puppy. Alfie came to us as a foster on our daughter’s birthday, and around the same time our personal dog was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor. Alfie got some interest but it didn't work out, and we had a feeling he would be good fit for us to help bridge the sadness we knew was inevitable when our dog passed. We reached out to an adoption coordinator and the rest is history! Alfie is the jolliest dog we know. He is 100% different than our first dog, loves his people and is willing to go anywhere and do anything. We are thankful each and every day for him and the Sweet Paws army!

Alfie

Han Solo

<figure class="

This is Han Solo. We call him Solo. He is a boy. Mommy and Daddy got him as an early birthday present for me. He loves snuggling next to me on the couch. He loves to play ball. He loves to get treats. He loves to chase me around. He always comes to check on me when I get hurt. He lifts up his front paw when he sees a squirrel. He is getting along with Errl, our cat. He drinks a lot of water and runs outside a lot. He licks ranch off of Baby Brother’s hand. He barks at people who drive in to protect us. I love Solo. I feel happy.

Mila, 5 years old

Han Solo

Oscar

<figure class="

Kaitlyn and I recently adopted a wonderful little dog from Sweet Pups Rescue. Her name is Lucy and she is amazing. We had been wanting to adopt a rescue dog for a while and were waiting for the right time. We decided to start looking into rescue organizations once we realized that we were going to be staying-at-home for an extended period of time due to the current health crisis. We sent applications out to multiple organizations. Sweet Paws was the only organization we heard back from. Although we were initially daunted by the intensity of the application process, we soon learned once we started working with our adoption coordinator Jen Sisson that it was only because Sweet Paws is dedicated to placing animals with loving, capable, and most importantly, informed parents. In these uncertain times, Sweet Paws made the adoption process not only simple from our end, but incredibly educational. We really felt like Sweet Paws got us ready to bring a young puppy into our home. We felt extremely comfortable working with Sweet Paws and more confident as new dog owners because of the their commitment to making sure we were ready. We are incredibly grateful to Sweet Paws for helping us through the process and for being the only rescue organization in the area seemingly still operating in these times. We are in love with Lucy and couldn't imagine life without her now. We want to extend a sincere thank you Jen and the entire Sweet Paws Rescue organization!

- Steven, Kaitlyn and Lucy

Lucy

Honey

<figure class="

Sweet Paws Rescue made our first dog adoption experience remarkably smooth. They really cared about Honey, about how we could integrate her into family life, and how to make it fun. They are there for questions throughout, which is a real help for us as we needed advice along the way. In a world of depersonalization, Susan (our adoption coordinator) and Lisa (Honey’s foster at Sweet Paws Rescue) became an extension of our family, not just for the adoption process, but forever. The joy we have had as a "dog family" is owed to Sweet Paws Rescue and their dedicated, wonderful staff.

Josh C.

Honey

Larry and Leon

<figure class="

We adopted Larry (formerly Hardy) as a puppy two years ago. I cannot say enough about our adoption coordinator Ann. She listened to us and helped us pick the perfect puppy, who came to Mass from Mississippi. Ann gave us lots of great tips for raising a puppy and now he is such a great dog. So great in fact, that when we moved to a house with a huge fenced in yard, we reached out to Ann and Sweet Paws again and said we were ready for a sibling for Larry. We adopted Leon (formerly Coco Bean) when Sweet Paws flew him up from Florida during the Hurricane Michael crisis. He is a chocolate lab and he is so, so sweet. Although he is twice Larry’s size, he recognized Larry as his big brother and together they are a great pair. We named them after Larry and Leon in the show Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the personalities fit.

We are forever grateful to Sweet Paws for completing our family.
Kit first came into my life as a foster pup during a trial separation of her and her sister to be sure that they would be comfortable being placed into different homes. Prior to being rescued by Sweet Paws Rescue, she and her sister were living in a junkyard here in Massachusetts year round. The freezing cold days, the scorching hot days, and no shelter other than a broken down truck and an old dog kennel barely suitable for a dog 1/4 of her size. From what I was told, she didn’t even have water unless it was from puddles after a rainstorm.

When I brought Kit home, I asked a friend to meet me at the beach so that we could do an introduction with my other two rescues in a neutral space. Kit was a bit nervous, but overall did well. After a few days, it was already apparent that she was slowly figuring out her new space and how to be a dog. She would study what my other two dogs would do, and then sort of copy them. That being said, she was still pretty quiet, and had a very mild temperament. Since she is a large breed dog, this didn’t come as a huge surprise to me, but I still wanted some sign that she was happier in her new life. About a week after fostering, the decision had been made that she was ready to find her forever home. Well you can officially call me a “foster fail”, because she wasn’t going anywhere. I knew from the moment I met her, that if she did well during the trial separation she was staying right here with me and her two new “siblings.”

It seemed like something out of a movie, but the moment I asked her if she wanted to live with us for good, she went from melancholy Eeyore, to bouncy Tigger in 3 seconds flat! Up until that moment, she hadn’t so much as entertained playing with me or a toy, but all of a sudden she was bouncing around the room running laps and tossing toys up in the air along the way. She then ended her first “zoomie” session by running straight into my lap and knocking me over. From that day forward, she was a different dog. She now has brought the “puppy” out of my two rescues - my 13 year old and my very serious 7 year old, and together they “zoomie” regularly. We go on daily beach walks and hikes and she has become inseparable from her rescue siblings. My favorite thing is to see her sleeping completely upside-down on her back with her legs straight up in the air. It means the world to me to see how comfortable she has become in her new home. I am so thankful for her coming into my life. She makes me smile and laugh out loud constantly. When people see her they always ask her breed, and I respond that she is a gorgeous rescue mutt. She is the perfect example of why you should adopt.

Much love,

Jamie

Kit

Izzy

<figure class="

Jax was the result of yet another unwanted litter down in Alabama. He was taken with his brother and his sister from a garage where they were neglected- living in their own feces, covered in mange, and malnourished. I was volunteering at Sweet Paws Rescue’s isolation facility when Jax came up from transport and I was assigned to care for him and his siblings. After about 5 minutes, I knew this dog was meant to be mine and the rest is history! This once neglected pup now enjoys going to daycare with his friends, playing with his absurd amount of toys, hanging out with his mom and her friends at all the local breweries, and getting to go for walks on the beach ( but not too close to the water, he hates the water! ) Jax is the most loveable, sweet, and cuddly dog I have ever known and when people ask me where I got him from I am so proud to say I adopted him through Sweet Paws Rescue!

Jax

Gunny

<figure class="

I recently adopted Gunny (formerly Coffee) and I felt the adoption process was easy and went really well! My adoption coordinator Susan continues to always be available via text and email to answer any questions I might have, even months after adoption! A well run organization, I would say!

Wendy

Gunny

Guinness

We were lucky to learn about Sweet Paws Rescue from a friend, and our experience to adopt our amazing pup Guinness into our lives was great! We started looking at their website when we were ready to adopt. We had lost our 16-year-old rescue months before and we had needed some time to heal. The application process was fairly simple. It's a lot of information, but I respect that Sweet Paws Rescue cares enough about the animals to go to those lengths. Once approved, we worked with our adoption coordinator, Jen F, to find the perfect dog for us. We found "Tupac" in one of the postings and instantly fell in love. He was well taken care of by his foster family which made for an easy transition. He's now 15 months old and known as Guinness as well as a million other affectionate names! We are so grateful to Sweet Paws Rescue for the tremendous work they do in rescuing these pups and giving them the opportunity to thrive with people who love and care for them. Thank you for bringing such joy and love to our home!!

Jen

When I started looking for a dog a couple of years ago, I knew that I wanted a rescue but I really didn’t know much about the process or where I should start. I’m so happy that I found Sweet Paws because without them my son and I wouldn’t have found Ellie, the sweetest and most lovable dog I have ever known. The Sweet Paws adoption process was thoughtful and thorough. From the adoption coordinator to the foster family, everyone I dealt with was exceptional. They were honest and intelligent, making sure we were all a good match for each other. Their dogs are well cared for and healthy.

I never thought I would love a dog the way I love Ellie and couldn’t imagine life without her now.
Cody might be the fastest foster fail ever. He came to us as a foster looking for a soft place to stay while he waited for his forever home. Tragedy hit my family two days before we were supposed to pick him up. My son's best friend was riding his motorcycle and my son was riding behind him. His best friend crashed right in front of Jacob and didn't survive. My son was devastated beyond words and I was so worried about him. I was broken-hearted myself because I lost a kid that I loved so much. I almost canceled the foster pick up but I thought it might help to have a huge, happy puppy in the house.

Jacob came with me to pick up the foster and Cynthia helped me get him in my car. He's a huge puppy so we were laughing about how he was a million pounds at 7 months old. Something amazing happened when Cody got in my car. He went over to my son and started licking his face and loving him. He knew Jacob needed him. My son wrapped his arms around him and said. ‘Were going to be ok buddy...were going to be ok’. The bond was instant. Foster fail before we left Sweet Paws. I had tears in my eyes because I knew these two needed each other. He is so loved and follows my son everywhere.
Yesterday was Darla's 1 year adoptaversary, and I just wanted to reach out and thank you for finding me the perfect dog and my best friend. Feels like a lifetime ago that I got her because she fits in amazingly well. We even started doing agility together which has been so much fun! We also did the breed DNA test, come to find out my border collie mix is actually a GSD and chow chow mix 😂, doesn't matter to me either way I love her the same.

Thanks for all your hard work and thanks to Sweet Paws Rescue for dedicating so much effort and having knowledgeable staff so each dog has a great new beginning.

Darla

Eddie

<figure class="

Eddie is amazing . He is sweet, smart and loves to cuddle. We are in love!

Adopting Eddie through Sweet Paws Rescue was a remarkable experience. Our adoption coordinator Jen was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, answering all of our questions and sharing photos of Eddie’s life with his foster family and rescuer.

We couldn’t be any happier with our Sweet Paws experience and look forward to many adventures with Eddie. Thank you Sweet Paws!

-Tina and Alan McCoy

Eddie
